It’s Here
Our Summertime Scripture Reading
Program Begins
The holy scriptures of the Bible
are able to make us “wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:16). They are inspirited
and profitable to “training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:17). Reading the Bible is not just a “Protestant
thing.” In fact, we Orthodox include more passages from the Bible in our worship and teaching than any other group.
And reading the Bible daily is expected of every Orthodox Christian.
But what’s in the
Bible? This summer we are going to find out. We know the passages that are read to us in our lessons. We also hear many other verses
from the Bible in our hymns, the Prokeimenon, and the prayers. But there are
hidden riches in the Bible that we probably do not know about.
This summer we invite
all ages to a summer reading program in which we will explore the hidden riches of the Bible. Here are the features of the
program
·
Bible readings for each weekday on a special type of writing
·
Sermons on the various types of writings
·
Handouts for Bible study as individuals or groups
·
Information and insight into the Bible
How do you sign up for this program? You come to worship on Sunday. Then you will get some helps for the coming week. We will publish the list
of readings for the week in this newsletter. But to get the helps in worship and to hear the teachings about the book, you
need to come on Sunday.
